The 2024 Fundraising Campaign of the Archive gaies du Quebec

Dear friend of the Archives gaies du Québec,

We are reaching out to invite you to participate in our 2024-2025 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN.

Over the past few years, the contributions of our donors have enabled the Archives gaies du Québec to welcome an increasing number of researchers studying the history of LGBTQ2S+ communities. These researchers, often younger, come from diverse fields, including academia, media, and the arts.

Unfortunately, our team at the Archives gaies du Québec is overwhelmed and under-resourced, making it difficult to respond to all inquiries. Due to limited funding, our opening hours are restricted, and our support for researchers remains insufficient.

Despite these challenges, we’ve accomplished a lot with very little, even though government grants do not guarantee us operational funding. The public subsidies we do receive are tied to specific and temporary projects, which do not support permanent research in our archives.

For 41 years, it has been the generous support of our loyal donors that has allowed us to maintain our presence within the LGBTQ2S+ community and beyond.

For our 2024-2025 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN, we are offering in a draw a work by a talented artist, Michel Daigneault (micheldaigneault.com), titled Suzy chaussure dans sa boîte.02. Michel Daigneault, a professor of painting and contemporary art at York University in Toronto, has donated this piece to support the AGQ’s efforts. His work is exhibited in public and private collections in Quebec and across Canada. The framed artwork has an estimated value of $1,800. For each $75 donation, you will receive a raffle ticket for the artwork and an official tax receipt.

You can make your donation online or by check by completing this form.

Let us remember that the Archives gaies du Québec remains the most important LGBTQ2S+ francophone archive in the world.

We sincerely thank you for the trust and support you’ve shown us over the years.
