Biographical sketch:
Steve James Niven was born on January 2, 1953, in Victoria, British Columbia. He studied biology with a minor in chemistry at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1976. After graduation, he moved to Vancouver and worked as a forensic analyst in the Equine Drug Testing (FEDT) division of Bureau Veritas Laboratories (formerly Maxxam Analytics) from 1976 until his retirement in 2017.
Scope and content:
The fonds documents the creator’s participation in the 8th Rainbow Alliance of the Deaf (RAD) convention, held at the Mont-Royal Hotel in Montreal from June 21 to 24, 1984. The convention was organized by the Association des bonnes gens sourds in collaboration with RAD (an American organization).
The collection contains a series of 30 colour photographs.

Source of title proper: Title based on the contents of the fonds.
Immediate source of acquisition: The fonds was transferred to AGQ in 2018 by the fonds’ creator (acquisition 2018-037).
Arrangement: The photographs have been numbered by the creator of the fonds.
Language: The captions on the reverse side are in English.
