Biographical sketch:
kimpo kim (키무라 별 르뫈木村 ビヨル レムワンー) was born in 1968 in Busan, South Korea. They were adopted by a Belgian couple and grew up in Belgium. In 1993, Kimpo Kim returned to South Korea, where they lived for 13 years (from 1993 to 2006). Since 2006, Kimpo Kim has been living in Montreal. They divide their time between Brussels, Montreal and Seoul.
kimpo kim is known for their activist work on behalf of adopted, racialized, intersex and queer people, as well as for their artistic practice.
Their artistic work can be described as conceptual, feminist and multimedia. Their primary medium is video, but kimpo kim also practises calligraphy, painting, photography and writing.
Their main areas of interest are: gender binary, perceptions of gender and racial identities, community memories, post-colonialism and Eurocentrism.
Their work has been exhibited in Belgium, Canada, South Korea, France and Japan.

Kimpo Kim has also published under the following names: Kimura Byol Lemoine, Mihee-Nathalie Lemoine, Nathalie Lemoine, Star-Kim, Cho Mihee.
Scope and content:
The fonds reflects the cultural life of the LGBTQI+, Indigenous, Black and people of colour communities in the places where kimpo kim has lived and travelled.
The fonds contains posters, articles, postcards, leaflets, booklets, programs, flyers, reports, magazines and promotional clothing.

Physical description: The fonds contains around 70 leaflets, 30 periodicals, 20 booklets, stickers, 10 postcards, T-shirts and a poster.
Immediate source of acquisition: The fonds were transferred to the AGQ on 24 November 2022 (acquisition 2022-050) and 21 February 2023 (acquisition 2023-006) by kimpo kim.
Language: The records are in English, German, Chinese, Korean and French.
