Administrative history:
The weekly program This Way Out. The international Gay and Lesbian Radio Magazine began in Los Angeles in 1988. This Way Out‘s mission is still active: “To educate, inform and entertain audiences around the world by making freely available the presentation of news, features and cultural works by and about the international lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community via audio broadcast and cyber media.” (This Way Out, n.d.). The program has won numerous awards from, for example, the U.S. National Federation of Community Broadcasters, the Radio and Television News Association and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. This Way Out is now broadcast on around 200 local community radio stations around the world.
Scope and content:
The fonds contains recordings on audio cassettes, as well as timing sheets and other textual documents relating to the program This Way Out. The international gay and lesbian radio magazine broadcast in Los Angeles between 1990 and 1992.
