Fonds Carlos Quiroz. – 1984-[199?]. – 1 cm of textual records and 19 photographs.

 

 

Biographical sketch:

 

Carlos Quiroz is a professional photographer of nude male models. He was born in Cajamarca, Peru, in 1949 and studied architecture at the National Engineering School in Lima before moving to Montreal in 1975. His career as a photographer began in 1980 when he sold his photos to Numbers magazine. Other photos by Quiroz have been published in Honcho, Mandate, Advocate Men, Gai pied and Blue Boy. He owns the Lobo studio, which produced the 1984 Calendar Montreal distributed in North America.

 

In 2000, he exhibited at the O’Connor Gallery during the Toronto Photography Festival. Following this exhibition, he published the book Exhibition in 2001. He has built up an international reputation, exhibiting in New York, Berlin and Paris.

 

 

Scope and content:

 

The collection bears witness to Carlos Quiroz’s artistic work on male nudity through photography.

 

The collection contains a calendar, correspondence cards and photographs.

Source of title proper: Title based on the contents of the fonds.

 

Immediate source of acquisition: The fonds was transferred to the AGQ in 1993 by the fonds’ creator (acquisitions 1993-05 and 2009-016 ).
